Best England rejects who are currently playing County Cricket

Steven FinnHello readers. Welcome to this post on FourSixCricket! In this post I am going to be counting down the top 8 so called “England Rejects” who are still playing in the County game. This list does not go in order.

Steve Finn

I personally don’t know why England got rid of Finn. He was a handy bowler who took over 100 test wickets. With a bowling average of 30.40, England should have given him a chance despite the Monty style batting!

Nick Compton

Most of his fame coming from his grandfather, Dennis Compton, Nick was and still is a fine County player with a batting average of 40.27. England should have given him a chance. He also got 2 100’s for England his highest score¬† being 117.

Chris Read

Chris Read was a class First Class wicket keeper but only averaged 18.94 in Test Matches. However, his glove work was amazing. I usually would have said England should have given him a chance but with Matt Prior replacing him shortly after, you can’t really complain!

Jade Dernbach

Dernbach was a decent T20 and ODI bowler, especially handy for bowling in the death overs. But he had a slight ego and none of the teammates really liked him! Now, this is obviously a big issue but I still think England should have given him a chance. Maybe then the team would of gelled.

Graham Onions

It wasn’t really anyone’s fault that Onions didn’t get back in the team. It was more the injuries that he got which pretty much ruined his international career. With a Test Match bowling average of 29.90 in the few Test Matches he played, he sure looked a fine bowler!

Samit Patel

Patel is an excellent player at County level with the bat and is good at holding up an end with the ball. With a FC batting average of 37.53 and an FC bowling average of 38.48, England should of given Samit a few more games at least!

Ravi Bopara

“Ravi” Bopara, one of the finest all-rounders in the County game at the moment and was decent at international level as well. It might be a bit harsh to put him on this list as he played 120 ODI games. HOWEVER, despite being good at that particular format of the game, he averaged 290.00 with the ball in Test Match Cricket and only 31.94 with the bat. Interestingly, his figures include three 100’s!

James Tredwell

Tredwell is a great off-spinner for Sussex and also handy with the bat. He averaged 29.18 with the ball in Test Match cricket and 27.76 in ODI. I personally think we could do with another off-spinner instead of Ali and Tredwell would be that man.
